I lived in Keelung, where Giant Rubber Duck, created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, was on display from 21 December 2013 through 8 February 2014.
Everyday when I drove back and forth between Keelung and Taipei for work, I saw the duck and always said hello to it. I enjoyed and felt familiar with the yellow duck especially.
I saw some disabled people or children who used their wheelchairs go outside with their family and enjoy the rubber duck scenery. Their smile always touched me.
I also saw a newly married couple have their pictures taken in front of the giant yellow duck to celebrate their significant time of life, which I believe would definitely leave them with sweet and beautiful memories.
Probably not everything went smoothly during the giant rubber duck exhibition in Taiwan, yet the main purpose- spreading joy around the world- had never been changed.
During the exhibition in Keelung, the giant rubber duck burst, got cleaned and repaired, returned on show, and finally delighted people again. I spent half a month to shoot photos of the duck, and one week to edit the film. It is a 4-minute time-lapse photography made by 19,000 pictures. Enjoy it.
